One extended voyage around the Land Down Under has been cancelled days after the fatal incident of an elderly woman who was left behind by the cruise liner on a remote coastal location.

The passenger had been walking on the tropical location with other travelers from the Coral Adventurer, but separated from the group for a rest. The ship sailed away leaving her and came back later that day after the ship staff realised the passenger was not present.

A large-scale rescue mission located her body the subsequent day.

Authorities are looking into the incident, together with police and the official investigator.

The CEO of the voyage organizer said that guests and personnel on the Coral Adventurer were informed that the remainder of the cruise had been cancelled due to the "tragic passing and previous technical problems".

Through an announcement, he added that travelers would be provided a full refund, and said the operator was working "to organize the homeward trips of the passengers via chartered flights".

Regulatory bodies also published an updated statement, and said they had "provided a notice to the Master" banning any further travelers from boarding the liner.

The representative said that they would visit the vessel in the Australian city upon its return.

The ship first departed the coastal city on October 24th, and was just two days into the journey at the point of the senior passenger's death. The tropical location was the first stop on the itinerary.
