Iran is ready to resume atomic negotiations with the United States as long as it is approached with "respect" and "respect", Tehran's top diplomat has stated.

The Iranian diplomat stated only diplomacy was effective, and shared fresh requests had originated from mediators to resume discussions with the American leadership. The earlier sessions of discussions between the US and Iran were brought to an abrupt and acrimonious end on 12 June when the Israeli government, with Washington's assistance, struck Tehran's atomic facilities in a two-week conflict that concluded with the American leader declaring the locations had been obliterated. Subsequently, Western states used their authority to restore international penalties, but Iran insists they have not had a significant effect.

Ideal Resolution Proposed

Iranian officials stated they felt they had attained a "magic solution" to the uranium processing matter in previous talks, when it was decided an domestic cooperative with US participation could process nuclear material. Each party would have been able to declare success since domestic enrichment would have continued and the US could be confident that Iran's atomic project was exclusively peaceful.

It had not been agreed in the discussions that Washington's technical specialists could work on Iranian soil, but that was a reasonable assumption of the cooperative offer.
